MPYO Camp - The Magic Flute with Conductor Hans Graf

13th March 2016, Sunday - The Art of Playing talks by Lertkiat Chongjirajitra and Brett Stemple @ Sri KL International School

My private lesson with Brett #13 was on the day before the talks, everything seemed like a revision to me on the day after. I can even guess the excerpt before he started playing, by everything he mentioned his students, I imagined myself part of it. I thank him for everything, proper techniques and methods always helped me to improve way better.

Lertkiat's Thai-English slang and his way of speech eventually made me thought of Ter a bit, similarly hardworking, passionate, energetic and smart etc. Lance, Hui Ping, Tay Kai Yee, Mr Goh and other Klpac brass players were there too. Hui Ping and I followed Brett to DFP afterwards because MPYO camp started on the same day. Surprisingly Brett enjoys listening to pop rock music, well, I am the old soul loves oldies.

Camp started. Same 1806 suite @ Darby Park, same group of crazy friends, same roommates - Charissa and Chloe. Our routines went: breakfast, rehearsal, lunch, rehearsal, dinner, back to suite, watch tv, be crazy, supper, sleep and repeat. It is all the little things that matter - like family like home - my musical family.

Conductor Ciaran conducted most of our rehearsal. 20th April (Sunday) afternoon - concert day, guest conductor, Hans Graf, conducted Mozart's The Magic Flute, whereas Ciaran conducted Dvorak's Noon Witch and Brahms' Symphony. We did well on the Mozart's piece and it was a great experience with conductor Hans Graf, so efficiently, clear, wise and precisely. I made mistakes here and there throughout the rehearsals and concert as usual, not very well prepared. Although I see myself making progress but it should not take too long, like Marques' saying ' getting nervous is not an excuse. Still ' I missed out all the 'A's - sorry.
