UKM ASEAN Universities Orchestra AUO
20th April 2015 - 25th April 2015
I'd been busy with AUO at UKM, Bangi. Faculty did not approve our permission letter to the concert practice at UKM, Bangi. I was disappointed at first. As I knew there was the other list of people who had been selected by the faculty to attend this AUO event. But at the end, none of them attended the concert except the non-selected-people. It was quite a difficult week for me and friends, as we traveled all the way from UPSI, Tanjung Malim to UKM, Bangi almost every day and night. I missed classes on Friday as it was the final rehearsal for Saturday's event, I lost some marks for my presentation but nevermind, I'm sure what I gained from there is much more valuable than just marks.
I met a lot of friends and inspiring people.
Datuk Johari Salleh and Ncle Adzan. They both are very talented and strong icons in Malaysia music industry. I am so grateful to have a few discussions with them about the career and path that I am heading. Ncle Adzan is very helpful and caring. 'til we meet again, I will prepare myself with enough skills and knowledge, so that I am qualify to learn advanced composition from them - the legends. Datuk Johari Salleh's arrangements totally amazed me, such a great honor to be part of his fascinating ASEAN philharmonic journey! I will always remember Datuk Johari's words, " Do not give up easily, because you have such a passion!" Thank you, I always know he'd been working very hard too, nothing glamorous comes without real hard work.

The trombone section! Abang Aidili and Abang Sabri! Previously we played in the Aswara Big Band Story but I did not expect I'd get the chance to play with them again, awesome! Some other members from Aswara BBS, Kak Siska, the rhythm section, trumpeters and saxes. Here's another guy looks kinda familiar but I couldn't recall his name. They sound great! Abang Aidili was the principle trombone here, he guided me so much, thank you!
The UPSI gang! Seniors and friends, I feel so proud of us! Such an adventure, we don't break rules but we can be flexible with rules! My crime partners! Congratulations! Kak Shasha, thank you for inviting me to AUO! We even watched late night movie together. 'til we meet again, Avengers!
ASEAN friends! I found that it was a superb meaningful orchestra! This is how music brings world peace and people together! Beautiful cultures and facilities! Food and drink provided. Our job is just to perform music and have fun to the max!
Last but not least! Thank you my parents for supporting me all the way! I feel so thankful because they'd never miss every event of mine! They'd always been by my side, watching and taking good care of me, in every single day of my life! And I'd always do my best to keep them proud! Next stop, MPYO!
