Le 'Trombone Quartet'
1. Asmawi Azizd - 4 Sept 1995 Virgo
I never realized we actually met each other since the day I went to UPSI diploma audition at UMS, Sabah. And then we were in the same group during Dr Karen's musicianship final performance. I already started to nag him since that time until now we applied for the same major instrument - trombone. We played together in quartet, ensemble and orchestras.
He is kind of slow person. I did not know why but slowly I found out at times he purposely acted slow just to make angry people to get angrier damn! Underneath his soft personality I never knew, he could be quite though sometimes when his good friends get into troubles. He is like our youngest brother here. We felt like his needs to be protected but actually he could do quite well on his own. Even sometimes I got moody or frustrated, he could still bare with me without saying a word. But I really hate whenever he made me felt guilty of not being able to hear his silent thoughts, always!
2. Azwan Azman - 21 Oct 1995 Libra
The saddest thing is when Azwan decided to leave the group. He is a very easygoing person, he likes everything to be in relaxed style. He is very humble but very warmhearted person which people seldom realized. Fatin and I both agreed that he is the most patient member in our gang as he never got moody or frustrated throughout the time, different from the other three of us. He was always the one who supported Mawi whenever Hanif and I got busy. We were so lucky to have each other.
Personally, he is very supportive and caring to me. I remember the time at Singapore Trombone Festival 2014, he always walked with me at the back or walked behind me. Sometimes he was the one who asked about me when I felt down, even those days Vinod was still here. Those nights I stayed at faculty until quite late, I was so lucky to have him accompanied me to walk home. I actually love walking home with friends rather than being alone. Thank you Azwan for doing so. You are like the second elder brother in the 'Trombone Quartet'. He used to advise me in all kinds of stuffs, especially those times when I was being too quiet, he reminded me to speak more in order for people to understand me. I will remember.
I listened to his conversation with En Mustaqim before he left UPSI. I could somehow feel his sadness and disappointment underneath his happy-go-lucky face. I knew he felt sad to leave his friends especially the brass members. We love you too, so we agreed not to burden you more, we will always wish the best for your future!
3. Hanif Hamid - 17 September 1993 Virgo
The 'King' in our quartet. He is like the big brother, strict but sometimes caring. Maybe because he is the eldest here, he is quite mature in his way of thinking. I always talked to him whenever I need opinions or guidance. We always shared knowledge and compete with each other in a healthy way. Sometimes we practice together. He is kind of 'Abg Khairul' style sometimes. I really hate whenever he is not serious in our conversations grrrr... I really appreciate to have him as partner to help in bringing up the brass section.
4. Teh Yoong Wei - 29 April 1995 Taurus
I am the only 'sister' in the quartet. I wish I could always be protected but end up I need to take the lead. I learned to communicate more in stead of just being quiet, thank you these people for being by my side. I understand that I am never a perfect person but I am quite perfectionist when comes to music. I tend to stress things up and get frustrated easily when things get uncontrolled, but these awesome people could still bare with me and care of me like a family. I am not a good leader but I think I can try my best to guide my friends here, and then we grow together as a strong brass team.
5. Fatin Nur Asyiqin - 6 February 1995 Aquarius
I am not going to forget this important friend here - Fatin. She was my housemate when we were still staying at the kolej. I love talking to her as she has very cheerful and fun personalities. We used to gossip a lot about the 'quartet'. Sometimes she faced problems and majority applied instrument problems. I wished I can help her out whenever she needs me, or even more. As I found that we both share the same target of being successful female brass musicians in the industry.
She is very close to four of us. We helped her in developing some of the basic brass techniques we learnt during our applied lessons with En Mustaqim. She was the only euphonium player in our group. I was really worried about her when she first came to ask for my opinion about changing applied instrument, I am sure whether she would have great passion in brass instrument but now I am so proud of her. She works hard for what she wants to achieve.
Thank you all for being my awesome friends.
